Is A Crystal Meth Lab in Your
Neighborhood? It's Very Close By!
Click
here to report a meth lab or drug activity!
Last year, crystal meth labs were found in our
Vicksburg and Warren County neighborhoods. These
labs
are destroying the lives of their owners, their families, and
their
victims.
Please report any activity you feel is suspicious.
Remember, you
are not tattling. You may be all that stands
in the gap for those caught in this
deadly spiral.
Here are some things to look for:
-
Strong
smell that might resemble urine, or unusual chemical
smell like ether, ammonia, or acetone.
-
Little or
no traffic during the day, but lots of traffic at
extremely late hours.
-
Occupants appear unemployed, yet
seem to have plenty of money and pay bills with
cash.
-
Occupants are unfriendly, appear
secretive about activities.
-
Occupants watch cars suspiciously
when they pass by.
-
Occupants display a paranoid or
odd behavior.
-
Extensive security at the home or
signs that indicate "Private Property" or "Beware of
Dog", fences, large shrubs, bushes and trees.

smoke cigarettes.

efforts made to cover windows or reinforce doors.
-
Residents
never putting their trash out or burning all trash.
-

materials surrounding property (lantern fuel cans,
red chemically stained coffee filters, clear glass
jugs and duct tape).
-
Vehicles
loaded with trunks, chemical containers, or basic
chemistry paraphernalia - glassware, rubber tubing,
etc.
-
Laboratory
glassware being carried into residence.
-
Garbage contains numerous
bottles, containers, and materials such as those
displayed in this brochure.
-
Dying
grass or plants in a particular area.
-

the day or night

existence
of a meth lab:

Drano

Never take matters into your own hands. Exposure

without
permission and you could place yourself in legal difficulty. |
Did
You Know?
109 Meth
Labs have been
shut down in Warren County
The
Warren County Sheriff Department took down 21 working labs in 2004
and 16 in 2005.
Nearly
all meth labs have been located outside the city limits but some
have been in town including local motel rooms.
The
majority of our meth lab bust have been the result of conventional
investigative leads. Several arrest based on a citizen call reporting
a suspicious smell have been made.
Warren
County is seeing an increase in the imported
crystal meth, or ice as they call it. This is a much more
pure and potent version of meth that is made in "super
labs" usually in Southern California or Mexico and smuggled
throughout the country.
The
first investigators Warren County Sheriff's Department had trained
were trained by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in
Quantico, VA beginning in 1998. The first certification was the
Basic Clandestine Lab Certification. That was followed by an
additional certification for Tactical Entry to Clandestine Labs
within about a year. Since that time an additional two officers
have been through a similar training program at the state level
receiving a basic certification.
